Levels[]

Slime Laboratory has fifteen levels. The slime has to avoid all hazards and traps in order to reach the checkered finish safely.

Level 1[]

Level 1 has the player get the hang of the controls. After jumping onto a ledge and crawling underneath a narrow path, the player can step onto the checkered platform, completing the first level.

Level 2[]

In level 2, slime, spinning cubes, and white lasers. To complete the level the player simply needs to absorb slime, jump over a raised platform, slide through a narrow passage, avoid two white lasers, and jump onto a spinning cube and finally onto the finish line.

Level 3[]

In level 3 destroyable walls, rectangular swings, purple acid, and red lasers are introduced. To complete the level the player must pick up three bits of slime, destroy two destroyable walls, and jump over three rectangular swings. The player must then slide through a narrow passage, avoid a red laser that moves from right to left, and then jump on small platforms while avoiding two red lasers move up and down.

The trick to get past the two red lasers is to jump onto the second highest platform near the ground and wait for the first red laser near the ground to go up then down. The player should go when the second laser has not come down and the first laser moves down to the lowest it can go. After quickly jumping up the platforms so that the player stops on the platform that is across from the end of the railing the laser on the right side up and down on, the player should wait for the laser on the left to move down so that its beam is stopped by a small platform and then they should jump up and then jump to the finish line.

Level 4[]

Level 4 starts out differently from the previous levels for purple acid will rise from below forcing the player to move upwards by various interactive objects to reach the finish line at the very top of the level. Two checkpoints (excluding the one at the start of the level) appear within level 4 so that if the player dies and they touch one of the two checkpoints the purple acid will retreat near the bottom of the platform where the checkpoint is.

Level 5[]

In level 5 spinning spheres and gravity switchers are introduced. To complete the level the player should push a slime bit through a narrow passage, absorb the slime and jump on top of a platform, slide under a narrow passage, hop across several spinning circles with spikes on them, drop through a hole in the floor, avoid several lasers, and then touch the finish line at the end of the level.

Level 6[]

In level 6 fans are introduced. To complete the level the player should jump on a fan and slide through the gap above it, jump across two spinning cubes, touch a gravity switcher, and jump over several spikes and spinning spheres to reach the finish line.

Level 7[]

In level six spinning circles are introduced. To complete the level the player should jump up a area with small blocks on the sides of the wall, avoid two white lasers, absorb slime, go back to the start of the level, and destroy one of the walls. The player must then slide through a two spinning circles, jump on top of a fan to a higher area, avoid a red laser, and then slide through three spinning circles to reach the finish line.

Level 8[]

Level 8 starts out with purple acid rising from the floor. The difficulty of the level is increased with a red laser moving vertically on one part of the level with small square platforms and spinning spheres appear with spikes on them in one section of the level to hinder the player when they try to go upwards. Fans and gravity switchers also appear in level 8 to help the player.

Level 9[]

In level 9 slime splitters are introduced. To complete the level the player should go through a slime splitter, absorb some slime found in a area near the area where Slime is reassembled to jump over a platform, avoid several red lasers, and finally make it to the finish line that is found at the end of the level.

The trick to avoiding the laser that move horizontally is to wait for the one that sweeps its beam over the platform to pass then jump on the nearby platform and wait for the one underneath to come back. Then the player should jump to the middle platform at the first possible moment and then duck under the third farthest platform which will cause the top red laser to sweep over the platform and not hurt Slime.

For the lasers the move vertically the player should wait until the lasers beam strikes the platform and then go on the opposite side but the laser should be moving in the opposite direction of where the player is going otherwise Slime will get killed.

Level 10[]

To complete level 10 the player should step on a gravity switcher, avoid spikes and lasers, go through two turning circles, and hop onto a fan. While being sent upwards by the fan the player should avoid the small platforms with spikes on them and then move to the left when they reach the top of the area with small platforms and fall downwards where the player will have to avoid spikes on small platforms again. At the bottom of the area with the spikes there will be the finish line and by stepping on it the level will be complete.

Level 11[]

In level 11 circular swings are introduced. To complete level 11 the player should go through two slime splitters and avid the hazards between them, jump across three spinning sphere, avoid two white lasers, jump across three circular swings, and touch the finish line to complete the level.

Level 12[]

Level 12 starts out with purple acid rising from below and is mostly just jumping from one platform to the next with some slime bits appearing in the level to help the player reach higher areas. Circular swings are added for difficulty as the player will have to push them to make them move closer to the next circular swing.

Slime Laboratory - Co-Op Multiplayer Trailer

Poki multiplayer update

On September 29, 2023, Neutronized announced an update to the Poki version that added local multiplayer support. The Poki version has eighteen levels - all of the Flash version's fifteen levels and three additional levels. It also features eight customizable skins that can be unlocked by watching an ad, which is prompted at the end of some levels.

Some changes have been made to certain mechanics and levels, including the following:

  • Players can unlock checkpoints by watching ads, unless activating one right after the first slime splitter in a level.
  • If the player dies multiple times within a single level, they will be given the option to skip the level and go to the next one by watching an ad.
  • The floppy disks in level 2 after picking up slime are arranged in a stepwise pattern going up and to the right. In the Flash version, these floppy disks are arranged in a straight vertical line.
  • Level 3 follows the same design as Slime Labs, removing the topmost laser in the final section before the checkered pad.
  • Level 4 replaces the section immediately following the first checkpoint with three wider platforms arranged in a triangle formation. The Flash and Slime Labs version involves the player climbing up a set of small ledges at that same point.

2 Player[]

The 2 Player mode allows players to go through the same eighteen levels present in 1 Player mode. Some levels, however, are slightly modified to involve puzzles that require the use of both players in order to proceed. Level 7, for example, introduces red buttons that both players need to press and hold to open a door. Only one player needs to touch the checkered spot to complete the level.

Both players will always be indicated by a "P1" and "P2" arrow over the slime characters while playing. They can choose any skin, as long as it has been unlocked. It is also possible for both players to choose the same skin simultaneously.

Other 2 Player features are as follows:

  • Both characters are solid and can jump on top of one another. This is required to pass some levels.
  • If one player dies, they will respawn at the next checkpoint the living player touches, even if that checkpoint is not activated. If the other player dies, both players will respawn at the last activated checkpoitn.
    • Additional spawn points are added into some levels where a dead player can automatically respawn, but cannot be used as a checkpoint if both players die.
  • The amount of slime from dispensers is doubled. While it is possible for one player to pick up more slime than what would fill their metre, they cannot expand to a size larger than the metre allows. If any player who has picked up slime becomes slick (thus reverting to normal size), each dispenser will drop another two slimes.
    • The colour of a slime pickup will always match player 1's skin.

Glitches[]

  • If Slime jumps and then crouches on a destroyable wall, the slime will instantly be destroyed.

Level 3[]

In level 3 several swinging platforms suspended over purple acid are present which can cause many glitches. If the player makes slime crouch and moves slightly to the side and moves so that Slime is clinging to one corner of the platform, Slime will immediately stick to the platform or a section of it. If Slime is in the middle of the platform, Slime will either explode or explode if the player makes Slime move then Slime will then explode or sometimes the player can move Slime off the platform and the game will behave normally. This glitch can also be preformed if the player makes Slime crouch and then stops Slime crouching and to get Slime out again the player should jump.

If the player has Slime attached to one of the corners platform they can make the platform move in one direction (if the player pushes the arrow key so that Slime moves toward the platform) they can control how far it goes up and sometimes even have the platforms string dislodged from the wall. If the other arrow key is used Slime will come off the platform. In some cases the player can actually turn the platform completely upside down so that the platform's string are in the purple acid and the player can hop on the bottom of the platform though it will still act as if it was the right side up.

Sometimes the player may not even get to turn the platform over and the platform will stay on the ceiling with Slime making frantic movements. Sometimes this glitch can occur if the player attempts to get Slime on the corner but explode which will cause the platform to move with so much speed it turns over. Sometimes the platform will jerk away and kill Slime but not turn over. Both way of preforming the glitch might end up in the level being impossible to complete such as if two platform are turned over and none of them move towards that player, the player cannot get across to the checkered spot.

Another glitch that may sometimes happen is that if the player makes Slime crouch and move to the side of the platform but not as much as to go on to it, Slime's appearance will be distorted or Slime's appearance will get distorted if the player simply brushes against the edge of the platform. To reverse the glitch the player should crouch.

Tunnel glitches[]

Destroying Slime in a tunnel[]

If Slime goes into a vertical tunnel and stops crouching so the Slime is in the tunnel and not moving, press the left or right arrow key and holding it will cause Slime to die.

Distorting Slime in a tunnel[]

A similar glitch can occur in a tunnel if the player simply hold one arrow key for a short amount of time (otherwise Slime will die if held longer) which will cause Slime's eye to move frantically which can be reversed if the player presses the down arrow key. If the player presses to go to one direction and then the other they can force Slime in any direction they want for any length of time and Slime will not explode. If the player forces Slime to one side and then presses the up arrow key Slime will come out distorted which can be reversed by going to a flat platform and crouching.

Hazards[]

  • Spikes - Stick one the ceiling, floors, and walls. If touched Slime will instantly die.
  • Purple acid - Sometimes appears rising up from the ground in certain levels. Once touched Slime will instantly die.
  • Spinning circles - Will spin around and always have either one, two, or three spikes on them. One touch from their spikes will instantly kill Slime.
  • White lasers - These will turn on and off at a certain time. If the laser beam the produce is touched by Slime, Slime will be destroyed.
  • Red lasers - These have a red laser beam that is always on. It will sweep over a certain area and if Slime touches the laser, Slime will instantly be killed.

Interactive objects[]

  • Destroyable walls - Depending on how many slime bits Slime has absorbed, these walls can be rammed into and they will fall over.
  • Fans - Once Slime gets on top of one, Slime will be thrown into the air and be able to reach higher platforms.
  • Swings - there are two types but each can move if Slime moves back and fourth one them.
  • Gravity switcher - If Slime is on the ground and a gravity switcher is touched, the gravity will change and Slime will be crawling on the ceiling. The same will happen if Slime is on the ceiling and touches one there.
  • Slime splitter - Once Slime goes into one, Slime will be split into two pieces. Those two pieces will move and jump at the same time.
  • Checkered pads - Stepping on to one of these pads will allow the player to progress to the next level.
  • Checkpoint pads - If Slime steps onto one of these then gets killed, Slime will respawn on the last checkpoint pad that was touched.
  • Spinning circles - To get into a spinning circle Slime must crouch then slide into a opening in the circle.
  • Spinning cubes - These will constantly spin. Slime can jump onto one to reach a new area.
  • Slime pickups - These will make Slime larger each time one is absorbed. While larger Slime can push over walls and jump onto higher places.

Pickups[]

  • Floppy disks - Floppy disks come in three types. Red floppy disks grant 500 points while blue grant 200 points and black grants 100 points.
